How to Communicate to Parents Through Check-In
During an Event, you may have a situation where you need to communicate with the parent. Check-In provides multiple communication options.
Text Message Paging
The primary way to communicate to parents of a kid who is checked in is to text them. This does require text messaging paging enabled in the station set up and the parent selected themselves as an option on the text message paging page.
To Send a Text Message
- From a manned station, click on Send Text.
- Search for the child in which you would like to send the parents a text.
- Edit the text as appropriate and click Send ✓.
Note: Text message paging is intended to be used for one-way communication. Parents cannot respond to the messages.
Pagers
If your church has pagers, you can use them to communicate to parents to alert them. You can use Check-In to input the number of a church-owned pager given to the family in order to contact them.
To Send a Page
- Find the Pager number either on the child's name label or on the Room Roster Report.
- Use your Pager system to send a page to that number.
Check-In Announcement
The Check-In Announcement feature is useful if you need to communicate the same general message to all parents as they are checking in their kids at the station. The Check-In Announcement can be set for a specific event or for an entire Check-In Station, and it will pop up on screen when the parent selects the event during Check-In.
